Fulham - Pulling Off the Improbable?

We`re never going to be seen as the most glamorous of London clubs but, over the years, we`ve had our moments.

In fact, over the years, some of those that have chosen to sign for Fulham Football Club have surprised may a football pundit.

Who`ll ever forget the wonderful days when our side was blessed with such talent as George Best, Rodney Marsh and Bobby Moore? Such wonderful times, times that showed that; given the right encouragement, Fulham is a wonderful place to play your football.

This morning it got me thinking. The tabloid press are indicating that Barcelona are looking to sell Thierry Henry at the end of the season.

Thierry is a wonderful talent but is about to enjoy a swansong in a career that has, in all truth, seen him play his career defining football across London at Arsenal.

Rumours persist that Barcelona will want a fee approaching £10 million; perhaps this could be adjusted downwards though in the current economic climate.

By now I guess many of you can guess where I`m heading.

My question is, would it be possible to tempt a goal scoring legend back to the London he loves but playing for a club that, in all reality, is never going to challenge the stranglehold the current giants have on the Premier League and European stages.

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

surely if we paid 10.5 mil or however much it cost for Johnson, we'd be happy to pay for a legend like Henry. not too sure theres much money left in the kitty though...

Ah, to dream. It would be wonderful, but if that's their valuation, I think we'd have stiff competition from a number of other clubs. Money bags Man City springs to mind.

I would absolutely love this to happen. He could be the perfect signing to bolster us up the league next year. But, as quite an optimistic person, i really dont think this would happen. If he was going to come to england again i would expect maybe the clubs like villa, everton and spurs to tempt him to sign. But we ca dream, and i wouldny put it beyond us!! :D

We can dream, why not ?, stranger things have happened. This guy has made his money and would fit into life at the Cottage with ease. Come on Thierry, how about it ?.
martintheveg
would he ever contemplate Spurs? Signing for us he'd have a clear conscience!

true al. i'd hate to see him go to west ham or spurs. i wonder if the allure of being a true foil to man u would attract him to man city as well as the money he'd make. maybe if we're playing european football we can get the money and allure to bag henry this summer.
