Ibrox Giants in For Baird

Roy Hodgson could soon face a dilemma!

The Daily Grapevine is suggesting that Scottish giants, Glasgow Rangers, are lining up a move for our Irish defender, Chris Baird.

Baird, who has rarely seen first team action this season is wanted by the Ibrox outfit but the initial indications are that the move will be a loan move until the summer whereby Rangers will then cough up a fee in the region of £1.5 million.

But, with several clubs said to be looking at Brede Hangeland, Roy, if he does allow Baird to go, could be leaving a serious gap in his defence if Hangeland is later sold to a club which matches Fulham`s valuation of the Norwegian defender.

A tricky one!

I don't want him to go. He's quite a good player when he wants to be, he has proven that. He makes good backup...strength in depth.

If this story had appeared in the summer I would have been yelling with joy from the rooftops of Fulham! However, when Baird has come in to play for us as backup he has done a decent job so I'm not now sure what to do with him!

donfulham - the perfect post mate, he's done all right when called upon!

Sell him and buy Berra!!!! I'd much prefer Berra as a centre half back-up rather than Baird. 'If' we do then sell Hangeland then we could always bring in another centre back as cover. Don't forget that Kallio can play centre back and he looks like a decent player. Stoor has played centre back too, so we don't need players like Baird taking wages when he's never going to be a first team regular

get rid of him. i don't think there's a player on the team i like less. he was not reliable last year, and has looked good when necessary this year, but i don't want him on the team. i don't trust him back there. pick up berra, or that other giant center back that we were linked to a bit ago. but send him packing. any money is good money.

I too would have been happy to see him go, but he was being played out of his normal position of CB in the right back role. When he's appeared this year it's as CB again, no? Hangeland is v. unlikely to go this month but I'd still like to see no-one go at all untill end of season.
