Fulham - Beattie Rumours Intensify!

Fulham - Beattie Rumours Intensify!

Over the weekend rumours began to surface that Fulham were targeting the Sheffield United striker, James Beattie.

Apparently, we`re considering a bid somewhere in the region of between £4 million and £6 million.

At the time of writing, the club had not made any comment on the articles that had appeared in several tabloid papers.

Today, the tabloids seem to be willing to talk up the story by implying we`re in a straight race with Hull City for the former Everton and Southampton striker.

Naturally, it hasn`t taken long for one tabloid to spice matters up by suggesting that Roy Hodgson is keen to unite Beattie with his a previous strike partner of his (during his Everton days) Andrew Johnson.

Whatever next!

It`s all pure speculation - mark my words!

It might be speculation, at £4-6m certainly but at a lower, say£2m price could be tempting. Might Kamara be fit before the end of the season or do we right him off this year?

Kamara won't even start training until late February :-(

I think Beattie would be a good signing for us. That said, I'd rather spend that money on keeping players like Brede.

£6 mil is a bit much, but £2 mil might be a good deal! Not sure Sheffield Utd will go for that though..

Could be a good signing if we get him for 2-3 million, but what will happen to Bobby?? I know he hasn't scored much but he plays his heart out and creates chances.

Bobby only needs a goal or two and they'll start pouring in for him!

Please don't sign him. 2mil is a fair enough deal for a bench warmer but he'd be behind Nevland in my opinion!

Come on now, Jack. Didn't you hear Dempsey? We're shooting for Europe. We need to expand the roster to give the lads some rest while we're making deep runs in the Cup, Europe and league. Oh wait, I'm sorry - I was fantasizing again. I'd put him above Nevland though.

He's the 2nd top league scorer in the championship, it's not like he's banging in goals in France, Spain, Italy or Germany..he's banging them in against teams like Doncaster, Barnsley and Swansea. I think if we were to be looking to expand the squad, we'd be better looking at some young talent from here and from abroad rather than bringing in a 30+ yr old. No offence to him, he's done alot in his time but I think we should be looking in a different spot

Also, just had a quick check on my stats, Beattie has scored 12 goals this season. 5 of them have come from the penalty spot. So in open play he's scored 7 goals in the 26 league games plus cup games that Sheffield United have played in. I'd prefer something slightly more prolific to be honest
