Sheffield Wednesday Travel Info

Anyone contemplating taking in their first match of the year but not being quite sure of how to get to Hillsbrough, might benefit from the following information.

Car:

From the North/South/East

Exit the M1 at junction 36 and follow the A61 towards Sheffield. Continue along the road for approximately 4 miles until the 2nd roundabout. Take the 3rd exit (Leppings Lane) and the ground is situated on the left-hand side.

From the West:

Take the A57 for Sheffield. As you approach the city the road splits in two - take the left fork onto the Rivelin Valley Road (A6101). Continue for app. 3.75 miles, turn left (onto one way system) and follow the road round to the right onto Holme Lane. This road then becomes Bradfield Road. At the junction with the A61 Penistone Road, turn left towards Barnsley. Hillsborough is on the left hand side after Hillsborough Park.

Bus:

Line 53, 77 & 80 (from Flat Street)

Line 74 & 74a (from Angel Street)

Line 85 & 86 (from Snig Hill)

Supertram:

Take the South Yorkshire Supertram towards Middlewood Road (yellow route). Exit at Leppings Lane.

If you intend driving make sure you arrive early to take advantage of the street parking close to the ground.

nice trip a slong as the traffic doesn't clog up but make sure you go past Sheffield and then track back in as per the instructions if you don't you'll go right through the heart of the city!
