Hodgson on January and Hangeland!

The gossip relating to a possible January transfer move for Brede Hangeland continues to dominate our thoughts.

Although we were cheered by certain words from the club that implied no conversation had been entered into with any other clubs regarding a possible transfer, quotes from Roy Hodgson continue to cause concern.

Following the hard fought 0-0 draw against Stoke City, Roy remarked,

"Everyone is talking about Brede and I would say that he has certainly got the capacity to play for any of the top four clubs."

"But there is no reason not to be optimistic that we can keep this unit together through January."

"I am hoping he might be one of those who is satisfied with playing in what, in my opinion, is quite a good team in the Premier League and that he is not looking necessarily for that extra move."

"My other hope is there won`t be much money around in the transfer window, because it is pretty obvious that his value to this club is very high."

"But I cannot stand here and guarantee that Hangeland - or Jimmy Bullard, for that matter - will not go because you do not know what type of situation you are going to find yourself in."

Doh! It was all going swimmingly well until that last line Roy!

I reckon we can hang on to him at least until the summer then the big clubs might come knocking!

NOOOOOOOOOOO! Not Jimmy, never Jimmy

If we lose Jimmy AND Brede, are we gonna have the same week in week out agony like last season, or is the team much more stable this term, even without arguably our 2 best players? What do you think?

I think we have to let go of the idea that Bullard is irreplaceable. There are plenty of others just as capable. Jimmy has become a maverick frequently losing his discipline in both position and shooting decisions. Frankly he infuriates me and I would not be upset if we cash in with the highest bid. Brede is different, we need to keep him as long as possible.

BTW I see none of us have commented on Pantsil's dive. Frankly it was a disgrace and he needs to be fined a weeks wages for embarrassing FFC.
Edens
I agree on both comments. I LOVE Jimmy and no doubt he is a great player and totally deserved his first England call up. However, soon after that he has seriously struggled for form and has been very hit and miss and is not irreplaceable. Regarding Pantsil's dive, its not often that our fans should feel embarrassed, but on this occasion his actions were indefencable. And to be honest its not the first time we've seen him do something similar. We understand he loves the club and will do whatever it takes to get an advantage, but improving his eratic play would benefit us alot more!
