'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Schwarzer Continues to Collect the Accolades!

It would seem that Mark Schwarzer is proving a lot of people wrong including those Middlesbrough supporters who warned us that he was error prone and over the hill.

Schwarzer, who you voted as your man-of-the-match after the draw at Anfield, has been, in my opinion, one of Roy Hodgson`s best signings. After turning down moves to far more attractive clubs, a spell by the Thames seems to have rejuvenated the Australian so much so that Hodgson has gone out of his way to praise him.

Another professional who has been impressed by his resurgence is the Australian goalkeeping coach, Tony Franken. After his nations 1-0 win over Bahrain last week, a trip that apparently had no effect on Schwarzer, Franken had this to say,

'I think he's getting better with age. Mentally he is very strong and I think his move from Middlesbrough to Fulham refreshed him and gave him a new lease of life."

'Before and during the game last week he was a focal point for the team. He definitely wants to go to another World Cup and he is very determined. He makes every sacrifice to play for the national team, and is always willing to travel anywhere to any game."

'Mark is very cool under pressure, he knows his own game and he has a very high level of personal expectation which keeps him striving.'

Like we`ve said previously, Roy knows a bargain when he sees one!
