Fulham - Is Hodgson Right?

Yesterday I was a little hesitant to cover these few quotes from Roy Hodgson.

I had this smidgeon of suspicion that if the Tottenham players were to read them they might just be so pumped up that Roy would have egg all over his face.

As it turned out, Tottenham were so flat for much of the match you could have been forgiven that Ramos was still in charge and the very attitude that Roy speaks about was prevalent again.

So what do you make of the quotes below?

Has Roy touched on a raw nerve that could be applicable to many clubs or is it all down to man-management techniques, something some managers may well be lacking in, especially in a foreign land whereby attitudes and the way people are spoken to can be so different?

"Harry has gone there and everyone is heaping superlatives on him for the job he has done - and quite rightly so."

"I congratulate him but I must say I feel sorry for the previous coach as the players are still the same."

"Harry ha snot brought in any different players and I do always think players should take some responsibility."

"I am pretty sure that Ramos and his #2 Gus Poyet must be seeing the team playing as they do now and saying to themselves 'Why weren`t they doing this a few weeks ago?`

"That doesn`t take anything away from Harry and the great job he is doing."


Is he right, or is he wrong?

Exactly right. The team is the same, the formation is similar, they've just had a boost from a new manager. It's all mental I am reckon Spurs will head into a spiral now after losing this game

This defeat won't stop the Spurs revival, Harry will pick them up again. He will need to work hard on Gomes but Spurs will be ok in the long haul.

Al may have a point - Martin O'neill is another who works with what I'd call mid range good players, never splashed more than £10 million on one player!

I think he's spot on, it is the Spurs players fault that Ramos got sacked - anyone could see what he did with Sevilla made him a top class coach who just needed time and perhaps needs his players to motivate themselves a bit more. On another note, would any of you lads be interested in doing a 'rivals view' thingy ahead of your game with us (Liverpool) next week?
