Fulham - Hodgson Sticks Up For Striking Duo

Football can be a cruel game. Reputations are affected by a lack of goals and already the press hacks are making a big fuss about our striking duo of Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora failing to score regularly.

Thankfully, the pressure is something that Roy Hodgson refuses to bow to and after the Portsmouth game he had this to say about his expensive duo,

"I think their partnership is getting better all the time."

"There were a number of occasions against Portsmouth where we were just a toe poke away from getting through."

"I thought Zamora linked up the play well as the game went on, and they showed a real sign of what we can expect from them in the future."

"You must remember this is the third game that they have played together, and it takes time to gel."

Interestingly, the fact that it is only their third game together gets conveniently ignored by the hacks who hover like vultures.

Here`s to Andrew and Bobby getting on the score sheet against Wigan this Wednesday!

Dempsey is knocking on the door lads!

one goal will set AJ off - you'll see!

Sure he was unmarked, but that was a quality finish by Dempsey. I hope his last few performances have done enough for Hodgson to have some faith in him. Nice to see him getting some time on the pitch.

Lets hope Roy continues to use subs!! I still think AJ and z-man should continue to start. Bullard on the bench. Davies on the right, Dempsey on the left and Gera along side Murphy.

eh sorry lads i hav to say i m not an expert of football but as far as i know, it s a whole team effort to go scoring n while our defence seems so far so good (concede about i goal i match), we scored only like 5 or 6 goals in 8 matches n that s far too disappointing after our summer investment particularly in strikers. n as far as i know, there should be at least one energetic player in a 4 or 5-man midfield n thats got to be Bully in our current squad. about AJ + BZ recent scoring problem, of cos AJ n BZ hav to learn each other's play ASAP but i wud say introduce someone who can fill in a more defensive role in midfield to share defensive responsibilties so that we can push Bully or Captain No.13 bit more fowards to support AJ + BZ n give them more creative passing, not just hacking high balls to them... neither of them s particularly tall or strong. also reckon we need a speed master with bit dribbling skills on right or left side to give us some other new dimensions in attacks, perhaps buy in one in January, n that means neither of Davies n Gera s always first choice player if he fails to deliver. gd to c hangeland who sometimes try direct 40-50 yard passing to the front, huges (or someone better else) focus on defence, kochy n plantsil (who has to improve his passing n keeping hold of ball after the Portsmouth game - he gave away the ball too much easily n let opponents take immediate advantage) hav to link up with the front better too COYW

btw, we must keep hold of dempsey he s a lad who can deal wiv some difficult situations for us particularly when we need that one desperate goal to save us massive points
