Sunderland Supporters Shameful Conduct?

And there I was thinking it was elephants that never forgot not black cats!

Apparently, the legendary Jimmy Hill had to seek protection after hordes of visiting Sunderland supporters decided it`d be a suitable thing to do to chastise Hill for something that occurred thirty years ago.

You see, when Sunderland got relegated in 1977 it wasn`t really their fault.

It wasn`t really their fault that they`d been piss-poor all season and that their side were crap.

It was all Jimmy`s fault.

You see Jimmy was in charge of Coventry City at the time, chairman in charge as opposed to manager in charge.

And with three teams in the relegation mix, Sunderland, Bristol City and Coventry, our Jimmy did pull off a right dastardly trick.

Jimmy sussed that he could eke out an advantage, of sorts, by delaying the kick-off at Highfield Road, due to apparent crowd congestion, thereby having fifteen minutes in which to influence a whole season.

So with the fixture involving Sunderland having already finished, Hill had the damned cheek to announce that they had in fact lost to Everton thereby allowing Coventry and Bristol City, who were playing each other, to meander through the remaining fifteen minutes knowing that if the score stayed the same they`d both be safe.

How dreadful of you Jimmy? Letting a big-club like Sunderland disappear out of the top flight like that!

What were you thinking of?

Clearly, the Sunderland supporters didn`t feel the FA reprimand Jimmy got was sufficient and the seething hatred that had lasted close to thirty years as they sort revenge; came to a head this Saturday.

Well I hope all you heathens are proud of the big men you`ve all grown into!

Peasants the lot of you!

I`ve never had a problem with these fans but this behaviour, thirty years down the line against an old man in the last years of his life was disgusting and pitiful. Those so called supporters should hang their heads in shame.
