Fulham in Belgium Deal (Stella All Round Then?)
For years I`ve watched Premier League clubs announce tie-ups with foreign clubs.
For many it seemed the logical thing to do, to use a foreign club to park a player whilst he gets experience and also whilst he gains experience in a European country to by-pass employment red-tape.
That lot down the road, Chelsea, seemed to do it well with a certain centre back going by the name of Alex and I can distantly recall Manchester United getting up to something familiar.
So, who have we done a tie up with?
Well, according to the papers, Fulham have done a deal with Belgian side, Beerschot, or to give them their correct title, Germinal Beerschot.
They`re a relatively new side having only formed in 1999 when Germinal Ekeren and Beerschot merged to increase attendances and also get Beerschot out of debt.
Apparently, we`ve already parked Ghanaian youngsters King Gyan Osei and Daniel Owusu there to flout, sorry by-pass, the laws. The deal also allows us first refusal on any youngsters that come through the Belgium clubs system.
Let`s hope it comes to fruition sooner rather than later.
