Fulham - Johnson Struggling To Impress

Fulham - Johnson Struggling To Impress

It was interesting to learn that Clint Dempsey had retained his place in the USA squad for the forthcoming internationals.

Especially when you consider he has had very little first team football. Indeed, first team football is, apparently, the route to international glory in most cases.

Therefore, when Eddie Johnson was despatched to Cardiff City, on loan, to further his English football education, he`d have been hoping that he`d get sufficient match-time to boost his international reputation.

Apparently not!

Since going to Cardiff, Johnson hasn`t reached the levels we`d hoped he`d attain and, as a result, hasn`t been selected alongside Dempsey in the USA squad.

A loan spell that hasn`t worked or a player out of his depth?

I`d appreciate your comments.

From what we've seen of him so far, he looks a bad buy frankly. Not surprised Cardiff won't play him because he didn't look Championship standard to me let alone Premiership. Shame though cause from the reports of him over in the US thought he could have been a new Saha we'd poached!

I too wondered what the fuss was about. If Cardiff don't him where does he go next?

he was probably a panick buy and i should think he will never play for fulham again and if cardiff dont want him who knows where he will end up probably go back to America where he can be a big fish in a little pond

Dempsey is sort of the cornerstone of the US national team. He could sit the bench for the rest of the year and still have a starting spot on the US squad.

Eddie scores goals against bad opposition. Well guess what? There isn't any of that in the EPL. He was doomed.

samizdat7 - the US team would be better served if Dempsey were the cornerstone. Unfortunately it is that idiot Donovan. Did he even show up to the World Cup? Fortunately, our former left back Mr. Bocanegra has been captaining the US squad. If McBride hadn't retired from internationals the US team could be the Fulham alumni roadshow.
