Davies Reflects on Welsh Defeat

After yet another round of international matches, we can finally look ahead to resuming our stop-start Premier League season.

Before doing so though, we`d like to reflect on one match last night and it`s not Croatia v England seeing as Jimmy Bullard didn`t get a look in, it`s Russia v Wales.

Wales, who narrowly won on Saturday, could have snatched an unlikely victory against Russia and were left to rue a missed penalty by Gareth Bale.

Speaking after the narrow 2-1 defeat the Welsh captain and all round Fulham good guy, Simon Davies, spoke out about how he thought it was an opportunity lost, remarking,

"I think we gave them too much respect in the first half`"

"In the second half we came out and got at them and that`s the way we play best."

"We were a bit negative but we believed in ourselves second half and gave them a good game and it`s a shame we could not take a point at the end."

However, all is not lost for the Welsh who will, no doubt, look forward to the return at the Millennium Stadium.
