The signing of Julian Gray, albeit on loan, gives Roy Hodgson the opportunity to pair the winger with Andy Johnson.
Both players played for the South London side Crystal Palace, although at the moment we`re still trying to work out if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
But, potentially, the prospect does have it`s advantages with Gray commenting,
"Obviously I know AJ very well."
"We were at Crystal Palace at the same time and played together in the 2003-2004 season when we got promoted to The Premier League."
"He scored a lot of goals and quite often I was the one giving him the delivery, so I can`t wait to rekindle that relationship. "
"Hopefully it will be just as successful."
Gray, obviously still mightily chuffed to have escaped the Championship cloggers to join a Premier League outfit, also spoke out about this surprise move and the speed in which it all happened, explaining,
"I went down to London on transfer deadline day, had my medical and was offered an initial one-year loan deal."
"Because of the late timing of everything it`s just a loan at the moment, then we`ll see what happens."
I can`t help thinking we`ll what happens depends on how highly Roy rates his performances in a step up in class, don`t you?
