'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Well Played John Pantsil!

It`s no secret that right-back was our problem spot last season.

The loan of Paul Stalteri, from Tottenham, sort of eased it slightly but Roy Hodgson didn`t fancy the Canadian as the permanent solution.

Instead he entered the transfer market and purchased two players, both of whom we knew very little about.

Fredrik Stoor joined us and has yet to be given the opportunity to show us what he can do in the competitive world of the Premier League.

That is because his other signing, John Pantsil, has done remarkably well in his first two games in the Premier League in our treasured shirt.

Pantsil was seen as the make-weight in the double deal that saw Bobby Zamora become a Fulham player, but he`s fast carving out his own reputation.

Yesterday his foraging down the flanks, his competitive nature and his general enthusiasm endeared him well to the Craven Cottage faithful.

One shuddering challenge on Eboue left us all wincing but it showed this guy has heart, has passion and is determined to remain a regular in the starting eleven.

Could we have uncovered a new Craven Cottage cult hero?
