Bullard - I don't believe it!!

According to Sky Sports, a trusted news site, they say we have rejected contract talks with our Jimmy! Well frankly I don't believe it! It`s scandalous!

This is what Sky Sports are saying,

Fulham have turned down the opportunity to discuss a contract extension with Jimmy Bullard, Sky Sports News understands.

The midfielder revealed earlier this week that he was set to sit down with his club bosses to discuss a new deal.

Bullard has two years left to run on his current contract but speculation has surfaced this summer linking him with a move away from Craven Cottage.

Wigan are understood to be interested in re-signing the 29-year-old, who left the JJB Stadium for Fulham in 2006.

Bullard has admitted to being flattered by the transfer talk, but stated that he is 'hopeful' of sorting out his future with Fulham.

However, it now seems that Fulham manager Roy Hodgson may be prepared to let Bullard go ahead of the new season.

Bullard missed most of last term as he recovered from a serious knee injury, but returned to play an inspirational role in Fulham's escape from the relegation zone.

Unbelievable, if true!

Gotta admit I think Jimmy is trying it on - he has two years to go on his contract still doesn't he?

We'd have him back thanks...but knowing Jimmy all this could be made up in order for him to negotiate a better deal for himself
worbo
He still has tow years calm down
Backslash2010
knowing Jimmy! What are you implying worbo?
Al Billy
Our Jimmy hasn't got a bad bone in his body!

To be fair, if it's true, you don't blame the club. Jimmy is an amazing player and a wonderful character, but wanting a new contract after player about 20 games in 2 years due to injury is a lot to ask. Obviously, the new contract will do nothing but increase his wage for the next two years and maybe add a couple of more years. Is he being greedy and wanting the next say 4 years on a higher wage? If not, why wouldn't he keep his current deal and extend (and increase wages, of course - he only deserves it) when he has a year left? I hate to think it - But I think Jimmy is trying to make use of the fact that Fulham are spending big amounts of money this summer. The fact that 3 new signings just came into the club earning more than him (most probably Zamora, Gera and Schwarzer all have more than him due to the competition, and Zamora for the fact that he was on big wages at WHU) makes him expect more himself, which, quite frankly, is only fair. I think that if he's asking for anything under 35k/w, as long as there's a good insurance in case of injury and another 2 years to the contract (making it 4 years), we should give it to him. Something makes me feel that Hodgson, although he does like Bullard, wouldn't mind getting rid of him if a decent amount came along. He is seen as a 'good' player to Roy, not as THE player, as seen by us fans. The truth remains that if Bullard had to leave, Gera - Murphy/Andranik - Andreasen/Grella -Davies/Bouazza would be more than enough in the midfield. Grella may also be being mentioned because of this reason - the Bullard one. Whatever happens, in Roy we trust :p Get Johnson, Grella (Bresciano too if you like :p), Simunic/Madlung and maybe, just maybe, a huge signing like Zigic/Gomez, and we will be top 12 next season imo. Although, that said - we've been saying that for years :p I just have that little bit more of optimism with Roy in charge :)

What Bullard did at the end of last season was remarkable. It was a perfect combination of timing, player, and place all coming together. With such a high expectation set from that, I'm expecting to be disappointed going forward. There are many questions, not the least of which are: can he maintain that high level of play throughout a season? Will he stay healthy? I think the club stood by Jimmy and now Jimmy should not try to take advantage of the situation. He needs to prove he can bring consistancy and durability before he is rewarded with a long term high $ deal.

Hasn`t Roy already stated that J.B. is paramount to his plans this season.
martintheveg
Correct martintheveg! JB ain't going anywhere

Roy sounded quite shaky when he said that.. with the sort of attitude 'Yeah, I'll keep him, but it wouldn't affect that much if he leaves', rather than the 'Jimmy is untouchable and will not leave over my life' attitude which the fans want to see :)
