'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fulham - Niemi Moving Close to Juventus Move!

I often suspect I was born and placed on this planet of ours for the sole purpose of putting my foot in it!

Last week, I dismissed the rumour in circulation that the Italian giants, Juventus, were interested in signing our thirty-six year old keeper, Antti Niemi.

In fact I had the gall to list it as the worst rumour of the week, well today I hang my head in shame.

Not only does it appear to have an element of truth in it but it coul dwell materialise into an actual transfer.

Niemi's agent, Richard Cody, has gone on record as remarking,

"I`ve had a call from a representative acting on behalf of Juventus, asking me if Antti would be interested in meeting about a possible move to Italy"

"I said 'of course he would be`, so now we are waiting for contact from Fulham or Juventus in order for that meeting to take place.'

"Obviously Antti would be interested in a move to Juventus, it goes without saying what a big club they are."

Previous to the Juventus rumour surfacing, Antti had been linked to Liverpool and Cody has also confirmed that there was some truth in the rumour and that it only ended when Liverpool completed the signing of their new Brazilian keeper.

"We had several clubs interested in Antti, one of which was Liverpool, who wanted him if the deal for Diego Cavalieri didn`t go through."

"However, they obviously got the Brazilian so that one has no further distance to run.'

Right, how can I make a complete fool of myself today?

I agreed with you 100% with that rumour being a load of tosh. Amazing football, why would Juventus want Niemi? If he does go I'd wish the bloke well because he tried hard and was a quality signing by Coleman. However with Schwarzer, Stockdale and possibly Keller if he signs an extension we should be ok for quality between the sticks next season

He he leaves then we're stuck with Stockdale as number two, not too sure if he's ready to be in goal just ye.
