Papa's contract 'virtually' signed

Papa Bouba Diop's agent has confirmed that a new improved contract has been offered to the player by the club.

The Senegal international has been with the club since transferring from Lens in 2004 and his present contract runs until 2008.

Fulham have made an offer of a one year extension with improved terms.

Craig Hutchinson told Skysports.com: “We have been discussing for the past couple for weeks about an extension to Papa's contract.”

After sometimes struggling without Diop's midfield dominance manager Chris Coleman will be delighted if he can encourage the player to stay.

Hutchinson confidently added: “We are virtually there with it and we are hopeful of it being done in the next few days as all the ground work has been done.

“He is happy in London and has never declared a desire to leave.”

Go on Papa please sign, with you we can be in the top 6 and qualifying for Europe. Without you we will all be lonely souls.

He is a quality defensive midfielder. Just what Man United could do with.

Why would he want to go to United, he wants to go to a team on the up

Im with Ollie on this one, let's face it, United are not going to win a thing besides the League Cup for years. They have a second-rate midfield that would force Diop to play at a lower standard.

Papa's got to sign. In his heart of hearts I think he knows he wants to stay, and any Whites supporter would be stupid to want him to leave. As for going to United, HA, dont make me laugh, they will be occupying 16th and us challenging for the title in 5 years. I tell no lie!!!!

I agree with Oli United are rubbish!
