Last season will always be remembered as the season where, in the face of severe adversity, we came out of the dark tunnel with a smile on our faces.
At times it was not pretty and at times I was fearful for our future, especially when we had to end that dreadful away day hoodoo.
Thankfully, we`re still in the Premier League and we have a fresh season to look forward to, a season where we can all turn up for that first crucial fixture, against Hull City, with a smile on our faces and genuine belief that this season will be different to last.
One of the great things about our survival last season was the support. At times it was phenomenal and at very few times did our heads drop.
It`s appoint no lost on Roy Hodgson who, in a recently published interview, had this to say,
"As far as the fans are concerned I`ve been more and more impressed by them. I`ve been impressed by the fact that every game since I`ve been here has been a sell out, which I don`t think is an obvious thing when you`re at the bottom of the table. With one or two minor exceptions all of our performances have been greeted with, if not jubilation, then respect from the public, which, of course, is great. And towards the end, those people who travelled away, and those who stayed behind after Birmingham to acclaim the team, I found that very touching. I`ve been brought up in a hard school football-wise and I`m more used to people behaving like that when the team`s at the top of the league, so to get the reception that we did after Birmingham speaks volumes of our fans and proves that we have a major responsibility to perform for them."
With season ticket sales going exceptionally well, the coming season looks like being an exciting affair. I can`t wait!
