Niemi Anfield Links Gather Momentum!

Earlier this week we reported how we`d stumbled across numerous rumours linking Antti Niemi to Liverpool.

Well, after being rightly rebuked for once again spelling Antti wrong, these rumours continue to gather momentum.

Several sources are indicating that Rafa Benitez is keen to offload the ex-England keeper, Scott Carson, and then take Antti as his second string keeper.

Antti, at thirty-six, knows that this could be his final move and although he`d be back-up to Reina he must realise that with the sheer number of games Liverpool play in a competitive season he`s likely to see a fair amount of action.

Clearly, despite his previous heroics for us, he appears to have slipped down the pecking order behind thirty-eight year old Kasey Keller (if he signs his new one year contract offer) and new signing the thirty-five year old Mark Schwarzer.

Strangely enough, amongst this proposed merry-go-round of keepers, nobody seems to have mentioned just how far Carson, after those gaffs against Croatia, has slipped down the pecking order with such football outposts as Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion considered to be his likely destination!

nice end to his career, swap him for Finnan, just to rile that poser who dared criticise me in a previous post in another article!

it does say something for how badly Carson's career has gone since that awful mistake against Croatia! Slightly surprised that liverpool would want to take Niemi but I think the keeper position is the one section of the pitch that we've got right! Lots of work left to do for RH to get a competitive team for next year
