Dempsey & Johnson Star for the USA!

With the focus currently being on the ongoing Euro 2008 championships, it almost slipped off the radar that some of our players are involved in World Cup Qualifying ties.

The USA are one country battling for qualification and their latest match saw them defeat Barbados 8-0 with the game having a very strong Fulham influence.

For a start, our very own Clint Dempsey got his name on the score sheet twice.

The first of his brace saw him also notch up a record.

The goal, scored after just 53 seconds was the fastest ever scored by the USA in a World Cup qualifying fixture. Incidentally, the pass for that goal came from soon to be an ex-Fulham old boy Carlos Bocanegra.

We here at Vital Fulham would like to congratulate Clint on putting his name in the record books.

Elsewhere, in the same game, Eddie Johnson also got on the score sheet. Johnson, who joined us in the January transfer window, struggle dot make an impact in the Premier League but if he keeps scorin at international level, we`ll sure hi sname will be in the frame when Roy Hodgson pulls his squad together to resume pre-season training sometime in July.

so when exactly will they get a close seaosn? Anyone know?
Fulham Badger
so did Barbados do well to get nil?
Putney
I believe they will have 4 more games this summer Fulham Badger. And Putney Barbados was lucky to have it only at 8!

Oh and by the way does anyone know where Carlos Bocanegra will by playing next year? Where is he rumored too? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Eddie Johnson continues to score in games against weak opponents. I still think he was a terrible acquisition and will disappoint at Fulham. I was at the game and he wasn't even impressive against a weak team like Barbados. The goal was a header and i'm sure if he'd have had to make two touches he'd have found a way to screw it up.

Boca said he wasn't going to look for a new club until after the home & home with Barbados. I'm disappointed he didn't fit into Hodgson's team. I've always thought he played well and gave good effort for Fulham.

Dempsey's opening strike was a good one. Boca gave a long cross from left side of midfield, Dempsey brought it down well with his chest and fired a low strong shot between the keeper's legs.

He will prove a vital player for fulham next season if we play 4-4-1-1 with him then kamara up front
Backslash2010
Kamara up front on his own will not work at all! He is a supporting Striker if anything! Nevland could possibly fill in that role. I would have gera in behind the Striker if we did play 4-4-1-1
oranje_emu
Kamara barely works in any position. Apart from the Man City game what did he do for Fulham last year apart from be a waste of space? RH has sorted the keepers out for next year, we're linked with defenders and midfielders but where are the links to a quality striker? Healy, Kamara, Nevland and Johnson up front for us? The rest of the Premiership won't be scared of our strike force if thats the best we can do! Anyway, Johnson hasn't worked, Dempsey is a quality player and I, too, was sorry to see Boca go
