Stockdale Signs

At last! Today the club have finally announced the signing of David Stockdale from Darlington on a two-year deal.

The 22-year old is highly rated and is seen as one of the top young English keepers around. With Fulham having some of the best goalkeeping coaches around in the form of Mike Kelly and Vic Bettinelli I have no doubt Stockdale will go from strength to strenght.

Stockdale made over 40 appearances for Darlington last season of which 20 resulted in league clean sheets and it was this form that attracted the interest of several Premiership teams.

David Stockdale spoke about his move:

'I am delighted that my move to Fulham has finally been made official as it has always been a dream of mine to play in the Premier League. I would like to thank the manager, colleagues, staff and the fans of Darlington who have all been great to me and I leave the Club with some wonderful memories`.

Roy Hodgson added:

'David Stockdale is a welcome addition to the squad and I`m delighted that he joins us for the start of pre-season. He is one of a number of highly rated young English goalkeepers and he will continue to develop his skills and realise his full potential at Fulham under the guidance of Mike Kelly and the rest of my coaching staff. We are hopeful of great things from David and I am confident that he will be a valuable asset to the team in the future.

They took their time confirming it though! Good signing.

Seen him play a few times at Darlo (go sometime when the Boro are away) and he is a cracking prospect. Don't see any real weaknesses to his game, got all the atributes so just needs to be knocked into shape if you like.

this looks positive, hopefully he develops, why only a two year deal though? if he is any good he could be swiped from us!
