With there still being close to two weeks before the Euro 2000 Finals get underway, those countries who are not involved are taking time out to indulge in the odd friendly or two.
One such country being England!
On Wednesday, England entertains the USA and whilst there are no Fulham players in the England squad, we do have three of them in the American squad.
One of these is Clint Dempsey.
Clint, who played as a striker for us when our striking stocks were low, has been fortunate enough to score against England before. The USA may have lost the game but Clint remembers his goal well as he recalls in a pre-match interview,
"I scored my first goal for America in the 2-1 defeat in Chicago and I remember it well."
"It was a set piece crossed to Carlos Bocanegra who shot. David James made a good save but I managed to squeeze the ball in at the near post."
"I am really looking forward to playing at Wembley - I have never played there before and would love to score."
"There is a great, rich history at Wembley and it`s so exciting for all the players. Guys I have talked to about it say it has an amazing atmosphere."
Clearly, Clint is looking forward to the encounter and is once again relishing the prospect of pitting his wits against the best England has to offer, his recent interview, given to the media ahead of the international, continues,
"It`s great to play against the best teams out there, as a player that is what you want."
"You can better yourself, as both a player and a team, playing against these sort of teams and we are all looking forward to it."
"It`s good to play against guys that I play against week in, week out, in the Premier League - one of the best leagues in the world. There are some of the best players in the world."
Hardly mind-boggling stuff but a least Clint knows that our survival in the Premier League will ensure he continues to play against some of the best players in the world.
