Hodgson Swings The Axe!

We all know that if Roy Hodgson is to shape the squad to suit his football requirements then changes would have to be made.

Indeed Roy has already previously suggested that the squad he inherited was far too large and required splitting into two groups for training.

However, it still comes as a shock to learn that the club have released 8 players after avoiding relegation.

The unfortunate eight being,

Carlos Bocanegra, Jari Litmanen, Philippe Christanval, Simon Elliot, Ian Pearce, Michale Timlin, Ismael Ehui and Bjorn Rustrom.

Probably the most high profile of the eight being Litmanen, Pearce and Bocanegra.

However, if we are to improve rather than stand still we have to have belief in what Roy is doing, therefore whilst it is always sad to see players leave, we have to accept it is for the good of the club and we`d like to wish all the released eight success in finding new clubs.

will eight be the final figure or will there be more to come?

I'd imagine there could be one or two more that get sold as opposed to released!

anyone care to suggest names!
Putney
The only surprise for me in that list was Boca as I think he is a decent sqaud player and versatile with him being able to play centre half and left back.

Staltari has gone back to spurs aswell which has surprised me but maybe that puts more truth in the steve finnan Rumour. As for more leavers, Keller, Warner, Niemi and then depends on bids for players i would expect.

I agree with Howard, I'm surprised Stalteri isn't staying! Bocca is a surprise too! He was a good player! I am also quite surprised Roy got rid of Litmanen!
oranje_emu
perhaps he got fed up of paying wages for someone who is never fit!
merlin
Why get rid of boca he's a great player, oh and i think they are waiting on bids for Seol, Baird and Bouazza plus we need to get rid of some strikers Nevland maby or Johnson out on loan and play Healy and Crouch upfront

There are others who are out of contract who I guess the club are negotiating with, but they still might leave. Players such as John, Keller, McBride, Warner, Murphy and a couple of others. Boca was a useful squad member, but not necessarily a starter. Hughes and Hangeland are better, and I would guess that Roy has some irons in the fire.

Crouch???? If any strikers were to leave it would be John first. I thought we could have kept Boca aswell but uncle Roy will have his reasons. Could be expecting some bids on lee Cook too despite him not playing for us last season
howrad
and Stalteri makes 9 then!
