Schwarzer Signs!!!

Today Fulham Football Club has announced the signing of Australian international goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer on a two year deal that will see the player at the club until the summer of 2010.

Mark Schwarzer at the age of 35 is no spring chicken and so follows the pattern of our goalkeeping options.

roy had this to say...

'After stiff competition from a number of high profile European clubs, I am exceptionally pleased that Mark has chosen to come to Fulham. His credentials on both the domestic and international arenas are impeccable which is reinforced by the calibre of clubs that wanted to sign him. We have some work to do off the field this summer to enable us to compete next season in the Premier League and to avoid the position we found ourselves in a short time ago. Therefore I am very pleased that Mark will be joining us and helping with the task ahead.`

Good signing guys?

I think it's an excellent signing for you guys, he's a very competent goalkeeper. It also leaves Middlesbrough in a bit of a dilemma as well. It's surely a signal that the general feeling amongst players at the moment is that Fulham will be in ascendancy, whereas Middlesbrough will continue to stall, making little or no progression. Either that, or Al-Fayed is really splashing the cash once again.

Thanks for taking him off our hands, 10 years of watching him is bad on the nervous system.

Nooooooooooooooooooo why are we signing more and more keepers? we can only have 1 in at a time

I never liked him!

I am presuming RH is going with Schwarzer as his no 1, and that young bloke we got in as no 2/3? I would assume, Keller, Niemi and Warner will be leaving?

I think he's probably guna be a good signing for 1 or 2 more seasons would agree with don, this will spell the end of warner, and probably keller and niemi too. Got to keep the raith in Roys decisions he's made some goodens so far :)
howrad
now that was a shock - I thought he was retiring - he's old enough to!
merlin
Stockdale is still work in progress - two years would be a good handover period from the Aussie!

I'm simply baffled as to why we signed him!

just shows what I know - I dismissed the rumour yesterday :-)

I think this is a good signing! He's not getting any younger but he's a good keeper! He actually commands his area! as well as being a good shot stopper. In short he's better than Niemi and younger than Keller.

Mark Schwarzer has confirmed he turned down Juventus and Bayern Munich to sign for Fulham.

oranje_emu....i can safely tell you that you couldn't be more wrong. Schwarzer commanding his area?!?! You 'avin a laugh?!?! He doesn't leave his line at all and has no communication skills whatsoever. He has so many neagitves it is impossible to list them all here.
