Fulham - Not Another Keeper Rumour?

Fulham - Not Another Keeper Rumour?

If you listen to (and believe) the tabloid press our wonderfully quaint club is to be overrun with goalkeepers next season.

Already we have Anti Niemi, Kasey Keller and Tony Warner on the books and they are, if the reports are correct, to be joined by David Stockdale from Darlington.

However, in recent days, we`ve also been linked with Scott Carson (Liverpool but on loan at Aston Villa), Isaakson (part of the Manchester City clearout) and now the Middlesbrough veteran, Mark Schwarzer.

Schwarzer is out of contract and wouldn`t cost anything other then his salary, however, the competition mentioned in the same breath as Fulham could see our chances of landing him being deemed as minimal.

Whilst Fulham will always be my passion, I get the feeling that Schwarzer could be tempted by the interest from either Juventus or Bayern Munich, even if it means playing second fiddle to a more established keeper, don`t you?

Bayern seems to be after the oldies then! Keller and Schwarzer now! Still think the Isaksson deal is the better one, and makes more sense!

I'd want Carson over the other players being mentioned anyway, Schwarzer is another oldie like Niemi and Keller who've had significant problems with injury. Lets get a young(ish) quality no 1 goalkeeper in this summer. Someone like Carson fits the bill perfectly

Carson flaps, as a villa fan I've seen him all year and he is just not ready for regular first team place at the moment having cost us many points (and possibly the difference between 4/5 and our eventual finishing place of 6) Good for the future but a lot of money for a prospect!

Well Schwarzer's been signed so I guess that clears this rumour up!! As an outsider looking in, I think you've got the best one out of the lot. Carson is over-rated. Simple as that. And Isaakson's not good enough to hold down a regular spot at City. I saw Tony Warner play for Leeds 2 seasons ago and he was shocking! Not even good enough for league one so I'd get shot of him. Kasey Keller must be approaching retirement soon. Schwarzer's a good keeper with at least another couple of years in him so I'd be quite happy if I were you.
