One to look out for

Our young Australia international centre-back Adrian Leijer is being tipped to feature at first-team level next season.

The 22-year old signed last summer from Melbourne Victory and has been a regular for the reserve team since and has also received his first call up to the Australian Senior side.

Billy McKinlay believes Leijer will be ready to make the step up to the First team in the new season.

McKinlay explained to the official site

'Next season I'll be looking for Adrian to certainly make an impact in the first-team squad.

'He should be aiming to play games for us and certainly contribute to a successful season for the club. He is more than capable of doing that.

'We're really pleased with the way he's come in and adapted to the football in this part of the world.

'Everybody is very happy with him; he's a joy to work with. He comes in, gives it his best and works hard. He's willing to listen and learn and we have high hopes.'

At six-foot-one Leijer certainly has the physical presence to make it in the premiership. Plus with the impressive Hangeland alongside him could grow into an impressive pairing.

Lets hope he makes the step up and doesn't go the way of so many youngsters who come here. Zakuani for example hasn't exactly set the place on fire
He's been out on loan at stoke for all the time! Done well for them!
I looked at their site they were saying he hasn't performed but i confess i've not seen him play would like to see him given a try in a pre season friendly maybe with leijer

Al Billy
