Healy - An Award and The Future!

After notching up a European Qualifying record with regards to goals scored and receiving an accolade from UEFA, there was always every chance that David Healy would receive further recognition from those associated with the Northern Ireland team.

However, he can feel pleased at being awarded the Northern Ireland Football Writers Association - International Personality of the season award.

It`s probably an award that, to be brutally honest, caps off a superb season at international level but something of a disappointing one at club level.

After opening his Fulham account in the first match of the season, away to Arsenal, it was hoped that Healy would go from strength to strength. Sadly, as the team struggled so did Healy with many a fixture spent out of the team.

However, despite a topsy-turvy season it should be pointed out that Healy`s commitment to the Fulham cause has never diminished and in a recent interview he stressed,

'Whether we stayed up or went down, I would have been committed to the club."

'They spent money to bring me here and gave me the opportunity to play in the Premier League. "

'My family have moved down as well and the kids are in school, so we are settled. It is all a learning curve. "

'I want to help bring success to Fulham. Finishing in the top half of the table and having a good cup run has to be our ambition.'

Commendable words and we hope that like several players, the second season at a new club is the one in which they truly flourish.

Agree with Merlin, I don't think he gets many chances to convert to goals!
