Fulham - Listening to Uncle Roy!

I`m sure Roy Hodgson wouldn`t be offended if I described him as not quite fitting the current day stero-type of how many a person would imagine a Premier League manager to look.

He`s been around the block has our Roy and at times his demeanour and presence somehow contrive to remind me of your favourite uncle, the one that used to rarely visit but when he did you hung on to every word he had to say.

Therefore, as we approach the crucial game against Portsmouth, I`m prepared to lap up every word Roy says, I`m prepared to listen to every word of wisdom he mutters and I`m sure I`m not alone in sincerely hoping this loveable guy gets the £1 million bonus he was apparently promised if he keeps us up.

In his latest interview, Roy gives a candid, behind the scenes, view into how things have gone in recent weeks and how he wishes he still had more time to ease the relegation pressure by remarking,

"I wish there were six or seven more games left to play."

"Then I would be feeling really confident that we could pull ourselves out of it."

"I fear we`ve left it very late but the great thing is we go into the last game with a chance of success."

"We didn`t lose faith and we`ve always thought we could do what we`ve done."

"It would be a great achievement by the team and I`m just part of it."

"We`ve got an excellent coaching staff and the players have responded magnificently. The longer we`ve worked, the better they`ve got."

If we do manage to get the result we all crave for on Sunday, I`ve got this feeling that exciting times could be ahead for this little, old unfashionable club!

He always strikes me as someone who would do well in a pub quiz! Don't know why, he just has that demeanour about him!

I worry about you sometimes merlin!

He's just saying what we're all thinking

I think he fits or club brilliantly! No-one really knows about him a great deal, like Fulham, He is under rated and not seen as the manager he really is, like Fulham. If w stay great things will lay ahead of us! If we go down we can curse or misfortune, hunt down lawrie and hope the club can cope with the drop. But then again that aint gonna happen and we're gonna have a great season in the premiership come august!

I thought he did all right at Blackburn - for a while!

Uncle Woy took Blackburn from a relegation position and got them into UEFA Cup, before being cruelly sacked just 2.5 months into the next season when Tim Sherwood and other morons decided they didn't like him. Sherwood, incidentally, now calls Roy the most technically gifted manager he has ever worked with. Humble pie.

lol merlin, got great visions of Roy at a pub quiz now, with a half-pint of ale, bowl of nuts and big grin on his face. Plus the clenched fists (a la Man City away) when his team wins.
