'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Portsmouth - No Favours from Uncle Harry!

If any of us thought, misguidedly, that Portsmouth may just field a weakened side ahead of their FA Cup Final clash with Cardiff we`re badly mistaken.

Harry Redknapp has come out ahead of the match and truly put us in our places by remaking,

"I certainly won`t be putting a reserve side out."

"It`s disrespectful and wouldn`t be fair to the other teams battling with Fulham to survive. So I will be putting out my strongest side and looking to win the game."

"Some players will need to show me they want to be part of the side at Wembley."

However, David James will be missing as he continues to recover from a calf injury.

Harry also paid tribute to our fine recovery in recent weeks remarking,

"They`re flying. They looked like they were down a couple of weeks back but they went to Reading and won and suddenly it gave them a lift."

"Then they came back from the dead against Manchester City which was an amazing result, now they`ve beaten Birmingham. You pick up a result and a bit of belief comes back, you start to believe you can do it. On Sunday, they will be absolutely at it, it will be a fierce game."

And do you know what Harry, we can`t wait to shock you all again!

I wouldn't over worry. Harry has already picked the team for the cup final & we ain't going to risk anything over a pointless game for us. We have been a very poor second in our last 3 games & I expect you to beat us. We don't mind, really.

D'awwwww, looks like you're gonna have to actually play football.

Fair play to him.

like I have said, he may pick his strongest 11, but the players themselves won't want to risk any injuries.
oranje_emu
it not a pointless game for us tho is it matt? if we win we could finish as high as 6th, each league placing is worth more isnt it? the higher we finish the more millions we get... building some momentum ahead of the cup final is also important, we cannot suddenly flip a switch if we go into the cup final with a 4th straight defeat... that said i doubt the players will be too up for it, i hope im wrong tho!
pompeyrug
Just win thats all you can do to sent Bloose back to where they come from, the fizzy stuff.

We need to get a bit of momentum ahead of the Cardiff game so should be going all out for a win. As Rug says, the financial effect of finishing one place higher shouldn't be overlooked either. Let's just hope that we aren't the cause of you going down.
