Would Fulham Bounce Back?

Dropping into the Championship would be a mortal blow for us die-hard Fulham supporters.

After several years in the top flight, years that saw us occasionally appear to threaten to finish slightly above mid-table, we`d be nestling in the second tier alongside several other fallen giants of English football.

Instead of contemplating trips to Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and Anfield we`d be looking towards the likes of Ninian Park, Deepdale and Turf Moor.

Whilst on the surface it may seem snobbish, we have to accept that it could, if we do go down, be a long road back.

Although the Premier League 'parachute money` should help us to keep the majority of our squad together (if they desire to stay) whilst also allowing whoever is in charge (and we hope it is Roy) to possibly recruit a couple of players of the character needed to mount a promotion push.

However, saying that, getting out of the Championship will not be easy as Chris Coleman, now in charge of Coventry city, has been quick to point out remarking,

"Teams do bounce back up but it is not easy because this is a tough league it really is."

"Fulham are going to come down with a lot of money to spend in this league but it doesn`t guarantee they are going to go back up, it really doesn`t."

"The Premier League is different, but there are three mini-leagues - but anyone can beat anyone in the Championship."

"Colchester are going down yet they could beat Stoke this weekend."

"In this league the teams at the bottom often beat the teams at the top and the sides that drop out of the Premier League will find it hard, I am sure of that."

Not something to look forward to is it?
