Stockdale deal done?

Stockdale deal done?

Darlington goalkeeper David Stockdale could be on the move this summer with Fulham being the team leading the chase for his signature.

Both clubs are understood to have agreed a fee for the 24 year old which would see him join once the season has finished.

Darlington manager Dave Penney confirmed to the press that Fulham are leading the chase;

'There might be things going on with Fulham. We'll let you know if and when things happen,'

'Nothing can happen this season obviously. We aren't going to start chucking things about before things are agreed with club or player.'

Stockdale has played a big part in Darlington keeping a record 23 clean sheets this season and with our current top three keepers being over 30-years-old an injection of youth is surely needed!

However is the leap from league two to the Premiership (still a chance guys!!!) too big for this lad?

As always your views guys...

don't know anything about him, but Keller is ancient and Niemi is injury prone, Warner is suspect and Batista has never been given a chance, so I'm all for bringing in new goalkeeping talent

What's Batista like? Feel like he ought to get a chance, he is an Under-21 regular after all. I like Kasey but two mistakes cost us two goals against the Reds...

Batista is meant to be quite good. I think he has the same problem as Niemi in that he is a good shot stopper but is a little shaky going for the ball. I'm sure that will improve if he got a regular place in the team. Plus on Football Manager 07 he was pretty handy. Keller has been good for us so far and it was unfortunate that it was him that made the crucial mistakes for the two goals on Saturday. I think Niemi is past it. He is getting paranoid about his injuries; he always thinks he's injured now. That neck injury he got against Watford last year seems to of shot his confidence in coming out for the ball. Warner has his moments but then makes horrible mistakes too often. We have a couple of good keepers in the youth system. With regards to Stockdale, well 23 clean sheets is impressive. He is still young and could possibly be our number 1 for the next 12 years! But we definitely need a new keeper!
