Oh yeah of little faith, did I not tell you we`d win today!
The fight for survival has began in earnest, a stunning 2-0 win over Reading has put us back in the race to escape that dreaded drop into the Championship.
Granted, we could have done without Bolton winning but with Birmingham dropping points, Sunderland losing and off course reading losing (to us!) we have something to aim at.
But it wasn`t just the fact that we won today it was also the manner in which we accomplished it. That was the best I`ve seen us play for a long while. We were resolute in defence and made enough chances to have embarrassed Reading.
Instead we had to rely on goals from Brian McBride and Erik Nevland to secure our first away victory since September 2006.
The first goal came after a Simon Davies cross was expertly slid home by the advancing McBride and the American international, making his 150th appearance for Fulham could have had several more.
One great chance saw a certain goal denied us by expert blocking from Bikey and Ingimarsson. But it was in the second half that we were to really shine.
Despite Steve Coppell reading the riot act to his team things only got better for us. We managed to hit the bat on no fewer than three occasions. Even then there were no thoughts of us ever conceding a late goal.
In fact in the 90th minute the game was sealed after a move involving Healy and Davies released Erik Nevland for a one-on-one with Hahnemann. The tall striker took his opportunity perfectly and even though the keeper got his finger tips to it the striker was soon reeling away celebrating his first goal in a Fulham shirt.
Next week it`s Liverpool, bring them on!
But first, it`s off to the pub to celebrate something special, anyone care to join me?
