Nevland to Return?

After Brian McBride and Eddie Johnson drew a blank at St James Park on Saturday, is it time for a change?

Whilst it is a leading question, perhaps we should point out that whilst we`ve suggested they drew a blank, in all fairness, they didn`t really get many sights on goal.

However, with Erik Nevland lurking in the wings, some pundits are suggesting that the Scandinavian may well get a chance to play alongside McBride at Pride Park on Saturday in an encounter that will go a long way to deciding our future.

With Litmanen seemingly a last resort and Healy and Kamara (both Lawrie Sanchez signings) currently out of favour, Nevland would appear to be the only other option available to Roy Hodgson.

Nevland is no stranger to relegation fights and whilst he hasn`t exactly set the Premier League alight since his arrival, there`s no doubting he has a point to prove and his physical demeanour may well cause the Derby defence problems.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

we need experience at the moment, so swapping johnson for nevland is probably the right move !

from what I've seen from watching Fulham on the TV, Johnson is what I'd call - WORK IN PRGRESS still!

Why not play Dempsey up front - isn't he still your top scorer?

EJ is not the finished article and although he looks like he could be a dangerous player in the near future we haven't got the time for him to develop. Nevland hasn't looked particularly sharp since his arrival, but he does have experience and I would suggest swapping him out for EJ. Dempsey being dropped recently is a bit of a mystery to me but if he does play he should be played as an attacking midfielder rather than out and out striker.
