What Could Have Been!

Last night, desperately trying to avoid watching the English teams in the UEFA Cup (so much for my national pride) I stumbled across Glasgow Rangers playing Werder Bremen on Sky Station 971.

Not having much else to do I watched as Scotland`s finest proceeded to beat the German side 2-0 to give themselves a healthy chance of progressing to the next round.

The goals were scored by two familiar names, those of Steven Davis (currently on loan from Fulham) and Daniel Cousin (a long term Fulham target).

With Roy Hodgson bemoaning the fact that we need to be more clinical in the final third, I couldn`t help wondering what might have been if both were still wearing the white of Fulham!

Interestingly, despite the snub by FIFA regarding Cousin signing for a third club in a season, Hodgson has today intimated that he`d still like to see the striker at Craven Cottage next season, whatever league we`re in!

Unfortunately, I can`t see the ambitious Cousin wanting to play Championship football can you?

I was really hopeful with Davis! He has undoubted ability! I'm sure he'll do well in the white of Fulham

There's no doubt Davis has all the quality in the world and i couldn't believe it when we signed him but he just didn't perform for us so i wonder how how long do you stick with a player and wait for them to perform, if they ever will again?

Davis was bloody awful in his performances for Fulham. I'm aware he was thought of as being a good prospect but in our position you can't wait for Davis to remember how to play decent football. Cousin won't come to us when/if we're in the Championship next year. Best we can hope for is that Davis impresses Rangers enough for them to match what we paid for him or even get another half a million out of them.
